As Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador approaches four years in office, our panel analyses advances and challenges under his government.
The 2018 election of Andrés Manuel López Obrador raised hope that Mexico could change direction from the neoliberal policies of his predecessors and a new approach to the drugs war that has left over 200,000 dead since 2006. We are joined by a leading panel to discuss these questions and others.

Latin America is in the midst of a leftwing resurgence, a new “pink tide”, following the defeat of a US and UK sponsored coup in Bolivia and spectacular recent election victories in countries such as Honduras, Chile and, most recently, Colombia. With Brazil’s Workers’ Party polling strongly ahead of the October election, the Left is riding a resurgent wave across Latin America. What are the lessons of these victories for those in Britain seeking to resist and create alternatives to their own reactionary ruling political and media class?
As well as the speakers listed here, we were also joined by Jeremy Corbyn, the former leader of the UK Labour Party and a longstanding supporter of Latin American social justice campaigns.
